Course Requirements

1.      Students will be expected to complete all reading and writing assignments on schedule.  Students should expect to devote 5 hours of reading for the Monday classes and 3 ½ hours of preparation for the Wednesday classes.

2.      Attendance will be taken at each class.  Students will be allowed two unexcused absences.  Beyond that, points will be taken off the final grade.

3.      There will be a number of short E-mail assignments throughout the semester (30% of the final grade)

4.      Students will be required to attend four outside-the-classroom events including

·        Two Religious Rituals or services

·        A lecture at the Center for the Humanities (November 18)

·        A Screening of Anthropological Films

5.   There will be four quizzes during the semester, two announced and two unannounced (35% of the final grade)

6.  There will be a scheduled final for this course (35% of the final grade)
